It looks like the Milwaukee based motorcycle company, none other than Harley-Davidson, is getting ready to enter one of the biggest motorcycle markets in the world; India.

Until recently, Harley was prohibited from selling their motorcycles in India due to stringent import regulations, high import duties and pollution control. Now, apparently, things have eased up, and there's even a rumor that Harley is going to set up an assembly plant in India, enabling them to sidestep the hefty import duties.

The current President of Harley, Matt Levatich is coming to India for a conference, and the speculation is that he will start talks with the Indian government for setting up shop there.

If this is going to come to fruition, don't expect to see Harleys on the Indian roads before end 2010, or 2011.
